| About Metadata |
|
Metadata is a description of the content, quality and other characteristics of data. Standard metadata format encourages consistent descriptions. This site offers both brief and detailed versions. The detailed version is based on the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standards as described in the "Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata" (CSDGM), April 11, 1994. Our numbering system is consistent with the CSDGM. Since this is a subset of CSDGM, the numbers are not necessarily sequential. These pages describe data availability and appropriate use. You may either browse major categories or search by keywords. Feel free to contact Metro's Data Resource Center with any questions at drc@metro-region.org. |
